Specific Details
Communications with Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Minister for Finance, Sinn Fein Agricultural Spokesperson, and officials from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, regarding Veterinary Ireland concerns on the Veterinary Medicinal Products, Medicated Feed and Fertilisers Regulation Bill 2023.
Intended results
A meeting to discuss Veterinary Ireland's concerns with the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
To brief the Minister on Veterinary Ireland concerns on Anti-Microbial / Anti-Parasitic Resistance, the duration of prescriptions, reduction of competition, the National Veterinary Prescription System (NVPS) and the availability of Veterinary Medicines.
That Veterinary Ireland be fully consulted on all aspects of the proposed National Veterinary Prescription System, including the capital and ongoing costs that will arise from interacting with the proposed system, and that members participation in the proposed NVPS is by agreement with Veterinary Ireland.
That the Minister ensures that the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine engages with Veterinary Ireland to ensure a smooth and agreed integration of NVPS into veterinary practices that minimises the impact on the running of veterinary practices, enable private veterinary practitioners to provide the clinical services required by the agri-food industry and reduce the use of veterinary medicinal products prudently in compliance with the Regulation.
To brief Deputy Kerrane on Veterinary Ireland concerns on Anti-Microbial / Anti-Parasitic Resistance, the duration of prescriptions, reduction of competition, the National Veterinary Prescription System (NVPS) and the availability of Veterinary Medicines.
