Specific Details Building awareness of the strong benefits of ethanol as a means for safely and cost effectively reducing carbon emissions in the transport sector, improving air quality and contributing to Ireland's reaching its obligations under EU clean energy legislation. See www.eerl.com.

Intended results Bring about greater use of safe clean biofuels in Ireland's climate programmes, in particular, the deployment of E10 petrol, containing 10% ethanol. Ethanol made from European tillage crops is also a key part of securing farm incomes and reducing dependency on imports of protein feed from outside the EU.

Emails to the Minister and department officials in the DCCAE, providing an overview of the benefits of ethanol as a contributor toclimate action in transport, inviting them to attend the launch of the Jim Power report onethanol and requesting a meeting.

Meeting (1)

One meetingin August 16 at Leinster House with Ms Marcella Corcoran Kennedy TD, to provide anoverview of the benefits of ethanol as a contributor to climate action. Attendees representing Ethanol Europe were Mark Turleyand Joseph Murray.
