Lobbying activity
The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.
Email (2-5)
Emails to the Minister's Office regarding International Clinical Trials Day 2018 on 18th May in Farmleigh House in which Minister Harris has provisionally agreed to be our guest of honor. Minister Harris was unavailable and Muiris O'Connor attended in his place.
International Clinical Trials Day is an annual event when we recognise the work and the fantastic contribution patients, who are participating in cancer trials across the country, are making to cancer research. We also used the day to launch our 2018 Just Ask Your Doctor! public information campaign which was a great opportunity to raise the profile of cancer trials locally and nationally.
Letter (1)
Email sent to Sinead Donohue at the Department of Health informing her of Press Release sent out from us on the 5th July 2018
"Cancer Trials Ireland supports call for trial to open in Ireland to study the effectiveness of the drug Pembrolizumab to treat cervical cancer. "
Letter (1)
Letter to Minister Harris looking for his support for a proposed national recognition event.
Meeting other trials participants can be of itself be an enormously enriching experience and bring great comfort. It enables people feel part of a national and global effort to protect future generation from the perils of cancer. Receiving a personalised certificate from Minister would enable this impact to continue and for those who have passed away it would be a poignant legacy to their families.
