Invitations and follow-up emails re a public meeting organised by the All Party Oireachtas Group on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights entitled "Reforming Ireland’s Abortion Laws: Drawing on international best practice to develop women-centred healthcare”, June 29th.
Speakers:
o Professor Emeritus Sir Sabaratnam Arulkumaran was chair of a panel of inquiry into the death of Savita Halappanavar. He is a distinguished obstetrician and served as President of both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), and the British Medical Association.
o Dr Gilda Sedgh was lead author of Abortion Incidence between 1990 and 2014; global, regional and subregional trends (The Lancet 2016), which documents abortion rates in countries which have different models of abortion laws. She is Principal Research Scientist with the Guttmacher Institute and presented to the Citizens’ Assembly in February 201
