Food Vision 2030 Tillage Group
Intended results
To participate in the Food Vision 2030 Tillage Group.
To develop the Tillage sector to take advantage of potential growth in the high value food and drink markets.
To increase domestic production of grain and protein crops for the livestock industry, while also identifying opportunities for adding value to Irish produced livestock rations.
To identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the sector, including for example, greater grower cooperation, targeted investment, identification of research needs, improved knowledge transfer and supports to encourage young entrants.
To improve the environmental footprint of the sector with a focus on soil management and soil carbon management, the development and application of integrated pest management approaches and the adoption of new technologies including precision technologies to support objectives in the Farm to Fork Strategy.
To develop linkages and enhance cooperation with the livestock sector in relation to the supply of feed and the efficient use of nutrients.
To consider opportunities for the sector to contribute to renewable energy.
To exploit opportunities for growth of organic tillage.
