IPRT's Legal and Public Affairs Manager exchanged emails with Senator Erin McGreehan on key issues arising from IPRT's annual 'Progress in the Penal System' 2021 report, specifically in regards the rights of people with disabilities in prison and their ability to access support. IPRT welcomed any opportunity that might arise to address the Committee on Disability Matters on these issues and provided Senator McGreehan with IPRT's previous research on this topic, flagging in particular the measures which might be taken to address the needs of prisoners with mental health difficulties and/or disabilities.
