Specific Details Engineers' contribution to our sustainable future

Intended results To hear the views of this Green Party TD who is also an engineer, as part of two different online events - an evening talk organised by the West Region of Engineers Ireland in relation to sustainability (as part of our Sustainability Grand Tour series) and also the Deputy was invited to speak at an Engineers Ireland World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development lunchtime webinar. The Deputy is Chair of the Oireachtas Climate Committee.

The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.

Email (2-5)

Emails of invitation to the Deputy to request his involvement in two Engineers Ireland initiatives. The Deputy is also a member of Engineers Ireland (he is an engineer).

Virtual Meeting (2-5)

There were two different events, open to members of Engineers Ireland to attend. One was part of our 'Sustainability Grand Tour' series of talks (February), where the Deputy spoke primarily about the Climate Action Bill. The second event was also remote, and took place on 4 March which is the UNESCO World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development. (Engineers Ireland organised an online lunchtime talk to mark the special day). At this lunchtime event, the Deputy also referenced the role that engineers have in providing sustainable solutions for society.
