Specific Details Invitations to our National Conference 2020: Engineering Climate Action

Intended results Our 2020 National Conference was on the theme of Engineering Climate Action, Solutions to combat climate change in Ireland. We sent guest invitations to members of the Select Committee on Climate Action (Oireachtas) to attend, as we felt it might be a useful 'solutions' focused learning event for them. Our conference, which was primarily for our member engineers, had both national and international speakers.

Our National Conference 2020 took place online on 21 October. The guest invites went by email to the Select Committee.

Social Media (2-5)

Some social media took place (from us) post our National Conference relating to an online article in the Sunday Business Post (opinion piece 29 October), written by our President Maurice Buckley (in the context of him being our President & representing our membership) & relating to actions to mitigate climate change and also what the Government's approach should be. The article stated that engineers have a critical role to play in Ireland’s transition to a low-carbon energy model and now is the opportune time to invest in public infrastructure to drive the green recovery. Some general social media took place from us to draw attention to the article - with none directed at any one political representative.
