Specific Details Operation of the Covid Wage Subsidy Scheme, and concerns that it could unintentionally exclude some Motor Industry employees who should qualify for the scheme.

Intended results The initial operation of the Covid Susbsidy did not take account of the seasonality of earnings in some sectors. In particular employees in receipt of commisions or bonuses in Jan/Feb which either don't recur at the same level in subsequent months or are non-recurring appear to be excluded from the Scheme. This operation of the Scheme does not reflect (as per the legislation) “net weekly emoluments that would otherwise have been payable”. This anomaly needs addressing.
