Letters to Minister for Justice and Equality, Charles Flanagan, cc-ed to Minister for Equality, Immigration and Integration, David Stanton, following the Court of Appeal overturning the High Court requirement for 12 months ‘unbroken’ residency in Ireland prior to an application for citizenship by naturalisation. Reaffirmed recommendation to reform of current discretionary approach and to use EU Long Term Residents and Citizenship Directives to more clearly articulate 'continuous residence' for citizenship applicants.
