Specific Details Section 58 of the Withdrawal of the UK from the EU (Consequential Provisions) Act 2019. If s.58 is commenced a minimum Euro threshold will be introduced under the Retail Export Scheme (a scheme which allows qualifying travellers (being tourists resident outside the EU) to claim a refund of VAT charged on goods purchased in Ireland) which would have serious adverse consequences for Fexco's tax refund business.

Intended results Fexco requested that an industry wide consultation process be commenced during which we can consider alternative avenues (other than the introduction of a monetary threshold) that could be pursued to address any concerns the Government may have and to consider any precautionary measures which could be introduced should the UK not introduce a VAT retail export scheme in a no-deal Brexit situation.
