Animal Health Law
Intended results
That Delegated Acts of the EU Animal Health Law reaching a conclusion, a number of issues contained in these Acts remain to be resolved.
Irish farmers make huge labour and financial investments in control programmes for TB and BVD in particular and it is vital the EU legislative criteria that will be established for these diseases does not increase the cost burden on farmers.
These Acts must also provide the flexibility to allow controls to be based on science, risk and the epidemiological situation that pertains in order to address some of the key issues raised by IFA in the TB forum.
The proposals relating to BVD eradication and control must recognise the progress and investment of Irish farmers in attaining our current status and cannot extend the timeframes of the programme or increase the costs for farmers.
That all issues are satisfactorily resolved prior to any agreement on these Acts at EU level.
