Specific Details Representations to members of Seanad Éireann in relation to employment legislation.

Intended results To advise of the implications of the Employment (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2017 for busy employers in the SME sector, particularly micro-business owners who may not have an in-depth knowledge of labour law. To amend the aforementioned Bill to remove the severe sanctions for failing to provide terms of employment within the first five days, and to provide for a reasonable defence on the grounds of unforeseen circumstances. To amend the aforementioned Bill to require the Minister to report on the operation of the Bill and the offences it introduces a year after it comes into force.
