The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.

Event / Reception (1)

In partnership with 7 other migrant focused NGOs a conference focusing on sharing expertise and supporting the mobilisation of migrant leaders in Ireland. Increasing political participation was a key focus, and political representatives from all the major parties were invited to engage. These included Minister David Stanton, Deputy Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire, Senator Ivana Bacik and Councillor Gary Gannon.

Meeting (2-5)

Meeting with Deputy Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire to discuss immigration related issues, including the need to increase political participation among people from a migrant background as a means of promoting successful integration. Meeting with Senator Billy Lawless to request support for a planned three day conference in September with migrant leaders from across Ireland and Europe. The aim is to build the capacity of young people from a migrant background, empowering them to get more civically engaged.
