Dear Minister Naughten
On behalf of the IEN Board I would like to thank you for the what we felt was a very useful meeting on 27th November.
At the meeting the Directors noted your concerns regarding the possible duplication of administation costs across our membership, but pointed out that in fact there are very few actual admin people in the sector and that there is none of the administrative “fat” that might be seen in other sectors. IEN sponsored joint-purchase schemes have enabled members to reduce costs for essentials such as Auditors and Insurance, whilst IEN in-house and external training has enabled them to keep up to speed with legislative and governance requirements.
Since the meeting the meeting the Directors have also discussed your suggestion of a “greenhouse” where administrative activities can be centralised, and are looking into the possibilities around it.
