Specific Details We lobbied on the review of section 40 of the wildlife act. This was in particular relation to the burning of vegetation in upland areas to allow for better vegetation management

Intended results The burning season was reduced by 6 weeks in 2000 without any consultation with landowners. We sought to have the burning season extended to allow for a more managed approach to vegetation management. The burning season in Ireland is currently 6 weeks shorter than in the UK and Northern Ireland.
