Submission on the need for more capital investment in tourism for Government's mid-term review of its capital expenditure plan 2016-2021.
Intended results
Increase capital expenditure to circa €350 million over next 6 years.
Assign multi-annual capital funds to the sector reflecting timelines & planning cycles.
Use of PPP to leverage & maximise exchequer funds.
Improve Ireland's comparison to other nations in terms of tourism capital investment.
Review & improve the grand scheme dispersed by Fáilte Ireland, to enable it to deliver more targeted capital supports.
Increase resources & evaluation techniques within the dispensing body, Fáilte Ireland.
Prioritise enabling tourism infrastructure such as airport rail link, town renewal & broadband.
A Tourism Product Development Forum to be put in place operating under the strategic direction of Fáilte Ireland, and including the tourism industry & key stakeholders.
