Submission (1)
The committee twas urged to consider
including the formal recognition of pregnancy and baby loss as a potentially traumatic
life event and the establishment of a national, trauma-informed post-loss psychological
care pathway, supported by ring-fenced, multi-annual statutory funding. We believe
these measures are both necessary and achievable, and would deliver meaningful
improvements in outcomes for bereaved families while reducing longer-term pressures
on the health system
Meeting (1)
FirstLight welcomed the opportunity to meet with the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health at Leinster House. The meeting provided an important forum to share our perspective, listen to members and discuss how policy can respond with compassion and practical support to parents and families after pregnancy loss or the death of a child. We value this engagement and look forward to continued dialogue focused on dignity, access to support and the lived experience of bereaved families across Ireland.
