Specific Details Communications on the Galway City Ring Road, N6/M6 corridor, route selection, road hierarchy and public transport integration. Based on my long roads career, I stated my professional view that the approved GCRR was incorrectly evaluated against its own objectives and sought due diligence on modifications within the existing GCRR/GCOB-derived scheme envelope before further State reliance, approval, funding, sanction or implementation.

Intended results To secure engagement with me and ensure that relevant State bodies and public officials were aware that, in my professional view, the approved GCRR fails to meet its key objectives and should not be relied upon for further State planning, approval, funding, sanction or implementation without due diligence. To have the relevant bodies evaluate whether modifications within the existing GCRR corridor / scheme envelope could allow the scheme to meet its own objectives. The intended result was not to promote an unrelated new project, but to seek proper reassessment of the approved configuration. To ensure that future reliance on the approved GCRR is informed by an objective review of the concerns raised in my correspondence, including whether the scheme was incorrectly assessed and whether it can be modified within its own envelope to better meet the objectives used to justify it. To place the responsible bodies on formal notice that the issue is one of objective compliance and public-interest due diligence, not a general objection to road infrastructure. I sought review, engagement and proper evaluation before further implementation steps are taken.
