Specific Details proposals for alternative employment and enterprise post closure of the Lisheen Mine in Tipperary arising from Lisheen Task Force, w hich comprises representatives of the Local Authority, IDA and Enterprise Ireland, the Executive Team of Lisheen Holdings and c haired by myself Liz O'Donnell. For the past two years the Lisheen Task Force has been seeking proposals and initiatives so as to provide for employment and appropriate activities for the 1000 acre site of the Lisheen Mine post closure.

Intended results Support of the Government and its agencies for post closure employment opportunities to compensate the local economy for the loss of 380 well paid jobs and related impact on the community. maximum consultation with local community and elected representatives for post closure activities compatible with planning

Name of person primarily responsible for lobbying on this activity As Chair of the Task Force since its inception in 2013 I arranged meetings with the Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Richard Bruton, the Minister for Environment Alan Kelly, who is also the local TD for the area. The Executive Team at Lisheen briefed local councillors and the community on an ongoing basis on progress made by the Task Force in identifying employment and investment opportunities for post closure.

During the period Sept to Dec 2015 telephone contact to update Minister Alan Kelly on progress made for post closure activities and employment at the Lisheen Site and to invite him to attend and speak at a community event in Thurles on 30 November to mark t he closure of the Mine. This was attended by all local representatives, management representatives of Lisheen, Vedanta PLC and local authority representatives.
