Dear Minister, May I first of all congratulate you on your appointment to your new post. I would like to join the queue of people seeking a meeting with you. We obviously would like to appraise you on the current work of the Irish Kidney Association and our goals for the future of our patients. There is one urgent matter which could already be on your desk, in relation to living donor expenses and patients expenses from the treatment abroad fund. This has been awaiting a signature from a Minister for some time and is affecting patients treatments in the UK. Our agenda for a meeting would include. The current state of Kidney Transplantation in Ireland, Organ Donor Awareness Campaigns – funding, Transport of Patients to and from centres - Acute Hospital Groups – equity of treatment, National Renal Office (NRO), Medical Cards – Renal Patients Chronic Long-term for life and Home Treatments – out of pocket expenses.
