Intended results Government to ensure that there are sufficient grid capacity and rapid charging points in place in the following locations before the car rental sector can embark on a programme of widespread electrification of the car rental fleet: • Dublin Airport • Other airports and ports • Motorway service stations • Tourist destinations nationwide • Car rental branch locations Government to launch a pilot programme to incentivise fleet operators to further electrify their fleet and help shift user behaviour away from private car ownership towards more sustainable, shared transport, in line with Government policy. To base such a scheme on existing German or Spanish models.
