Specific Details Support in relation to Ukrainian refugees coming to Ireland

Intended results A letter was sent to the office of An Taoiseach in relation to the war in Ukraine, with the main purpose of informing the Taoiseach that our Institution was willing to assist the Government in any way in relation to the crisis and in particular in supporting refugees coming to Ireland from Ukraine. In our letter, we said that as an association of engineers, we were deeply shocked by the Russian invasion and attack on Ukraine which had initiated a humanitarian crisis for the people of the country. We said that we had issued a statement and placed it on our website; that we were particularly keen to support any engineers coming from Ukraine including engineering students, and that the Irish Red Cross had reached out to us to ask us for help in assessing properties, pledged by the public in Ireland for Ukrainian refugees, and we were going to practically support that work. We also told the Taoiseach that we informed our counterpart in Ukraine – the Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations of Ukraine – of our support.
