IPRT invited a number of TDs and senior justice officials to an upcoming event being hosted in Belfast in conjunction with NIACRO (Northern Ireland Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders) on the topic of women in prison whose children are in care. In addition to inviting TDs, IPRT requested responses to PQs that had been put to the Minister for Justice on the topic of women in prison and also raised some of our specific concerns around women's treatment (e.g. one such concern being the indication that women are imprisoned for less serious offences).
