IPRT's Executive Director, Fíona Ní Chinnéide, and Legal & Public Affairs Manager, Molly Joyce, met with Deputy Catherine Murphy to discuss key current penal reform issues and priorities, including: accountability (OPCAT ratification and pending Inspection of Places of Detention Bill); prison complaints; the mental health & addiction needs of people in contact with criminal justice system, and work of the High Level Task Force; sentencing, alternatives to imprisonment and rehabilitation; spent convictions; equality and discrimination in prisons; and support for people with disabilities in prison.
