Virtual Meeting (2-5)
Attendance at a virtual briefing meeting regarding the below KPMG report, attended by Minister Coveney, on 9 July 2021. A second briefing meeting was attended regarding the report on 19 July 2021, after its public release. An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, attended the second meeting. The findings of the report and its recommendations were discussed at both virtual meetings.

KPMG prepared a report regarding the viability and affordability of apartment development in Ireland, including recommendations to support viability and affordability in this regard. The paper summarised previously identified issues around the cost and viability of delivering new apartment developments in Ireland’s cities and urban areas and presented case study examples of how three European comparator cities have addressed similar issues. It also included recommendations related to changes to tax law and the use of the Urban Housing Investment Fund / the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund to support viability and affordability in this regard. The report was publicly launched on 14th July 2021.
