Nursing Homes Ireland budget submission 2021 setting out requirements for nursing homes in 2021 budget
Intended results
To ensure fundamental issues in the funding of nursing home care are addressed in Budget 2021
To highlight the disparity in the funding of nursing home care and to advocate for further transparency from NTPF in its administration of the Nursing Home Support Scheme. Requirement for the Fair Deal scheme to encompass the reality of costs incurred to provide high-dependency, specialised care, with requirement to address the gross inequality in funding between HSE and private and voluntary nursing homes. Requirement to bring greater accountability to HSE nursing home expenditure
To question the value of the State diverting hundreds of millions of euro from a limited capital expenditure budget for capital works that will yield negligible additional capacity
To advocate for further extensions to Temporary Assistance Payment Scheme (TAPS) to support nursing homes in meeting the challenges presented by Covid-19, and to ensure that the costs associated with implementing the recommendations of the Nursing Homes Expert Panel are recognised as long-term expenditure for nursing homes
To put forward the need for commitments from insurers for a schedule of reductions that are required to support small and medium sized enterprises following a required reform to Irish insurance market
