To marks World Refugee Day 2016 the Irish Refugee Council called upon the Irish government to open up safe and legal pathways for protection so that those fleeing persecution and conflict can reach safety without undertaking further risks including risking their lives at sea. We asked that all politicians, regardless of party or political affiliation, urgently consider the options set out in a document which outlined ways that Ireland could offer safe and legal access to refugees.
