Intended results Ring-fenced funding for the National Cancer Strategy Funding to address COVID-19 related backlogs in cancer services Addressing reductions in capacity (due to social distancing) by making immediate investment in temporary builds while committing to overdue capital investment in oncology day wards, operating theatres, elective-only hospitals and a comprehensive cancer centre. Expedited delivery of Sláintecare Funding of Endoscopy Action Plan Reduction in the Drugs Payment Scheme Abolition of prescription charges Reduction of car parking charges at public hospitals Abolition of inpatient charges Provision of life-long medical cards to those with a terminal cancer diagnosis and survivors of childhood or adolescent cancer Provision of medical cards to all cancer patients upon diagnosis until treatment has finished Extension of publicly funded fertility preservation services to children and adolescent cancer patients Increase to state funding for Night Nursing services Ring-fenced funding for cancer research Funding for skin cancer prevention plan 20% of the national transport budget to walking and cycling projects An increase in excise on cigarettes by 80c and excise alignment on roll-your-own tobacco in line with cigarettes. Funding for proven smoking quit supports To thank Deputy Alan Kelly for his contributions during Leader's Questions on 10.09.2020 and emphasise our desire that there is no change to BreastCheck screening intervals.
