Intended results
Department of Agriculture, Food & the Marine (DAFM) to engage with Veterinary Ireland and AHI to launch an information leaflet outlining best practice on dealing with bovine abortions on farm in the interests of biosecurity, biocontainment and disease surveillance in the light of the cessation of brucellosis testing nationally.
DAFM to accept the nomination of the Private Veterinary Practition (PVP) on the ER1 form as the primary permission for animal health data sharing, to allow PVPs to fulfill their obligations to the health & welfare of animals under their care, enhance biosecurity and biocontainment at farm level and to facilitate the successful expansion of the agri-food industry towards 2025.
DAFM, in conjunction with Animal Health Ireland (AHI), to ensure that evidence based science is at the forefront of all AHI programmes, with a view to realising the full potential of the Animal Health Ireland project, and so protect animal health and animal welfare, and the reputational integrity of the Irish agri-food industry.
The Minister to ensure that all Department (DAFM) staff observe proper and fair procedures when carrying out duties involving direct contact with Veterinary Practitioners (e.g. ERAD / SIU Inspections), ensuring the maintenance of the dignity of all parties involved, through courteous, reasonable and dignified conduct by DAFM Staff, and so maintaining an environment free from bullying or harassment.
That all samples taken for Johne's disease as part of a Johne's Disease Control Programme supported by Veterinary Ireland, must require third party certification.
