Specific Details We welcomed the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Bill 2014 but felt it fell short in having no statutory definition of consent. Given the difficulties in proving an absence of consent in sexual offence cases, we highlighted to the Minister why a definition would go some way towards clarifying the uncertainties in this area.

An area that we believe would strengthen the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Bill 2014 and keep more victims of sexual crimes in the Criminal Justice System is a definition of consent and it is not included.
