The following activities occurred for this specific Subject Matter Area.

Meeting (1)

Meeting with Minister of State with responsibility for Local Government and Electoral Reform to discuss recent remarks reported in national newspaper on potential for introducing quotas for migrants in upcoming local elections. Following a recent collaboration with the Department on a video campaign in 10 languages to encourage people from migrant backgrounds to register to vote ahead of the 2019 local elections, we discussed other ways to build migrant political participation. Currently just 3 in 949 local councillors are from a migrant background when one in eight of Irish society from migrant background.
