Event / Reception (1)

Irish Distillers invited An Tanaiste Joan Burton to speak at the opening of the Irish Distillers Microdistillery in Midleton. Informal discussions at the event focused on the global success of Jameson Irish whiskey, the economic impact of the indigenous distilling industry, the importance of supportive domestic policies as underpinning export success, and the future growth of the Irish whiskey category. A number of local representatives (see DPO section) attended the event.

Meeting (1)

Alexandre Ricard, CEO of Pernod Ricard, met with An Taoiseach Enda Kenny at an event in Paris. Discussions focused on the global success of Jameson Irish whiskey, the €220 million investment by Pernod Ricard in Irish Distillers' operations in Ireland, the importance of supportive domestic policies as underpinning export success, and the shared objective of tackling alcohol misuse and the most effective policy measures for addressing same.
