Key Asks - NHI Budget 2019 Submission: Equality in funding of pay levels - equating additional €12m earmarked for HSE pay levels to private & voluntary will amount to €45m; Recognising Central Bank 5.3% increase in ‘compensation’ of employees for 2019 equates to €33.9m; Private & voluntary nursing homes must be exempted from Commercial rates, addressing present discriminatory practice; Recognition in fees payable of substantial increases in essential business costs; New GP contract must state categorically the obligations and duties of the GP with regard to residents in nursing home care and fund appropriately; Government requirement to expediate recommendations presented within the Personal Injuries Commissioned report and act upon its recommendations to tackle high insurance costs.
