To emphasis that Budget 2019 provides an opportunity for the Government to demonstrate its support for the farming sector
That cuts to Farm Schemes in the downturn, be fully restored.
That there would be measures to address the low income sectors in farming, including livestock and sheep.
That there would be incentivised schemes for renewables at farm level to support innovative change. To demonstrate that there is potential for a win win scenario where we increase the use of renewable energy while also providing an alternative income source for farmers and rural areas.
The commitment in the Programme for Government to increase the Earned Income Tax Credit to €1,650 for the self-employed, to match the PAYE credit must be followed through. The Earned Income Tax Credit must be increased from its 2018 level of €1,150 to €1,650 in budget 2019.
