Specific Details Compulsory Electronic Identification of Sheep (EID)

Intended results To defer the introduction of Sheep EID from October 1st To prevent the extra costs that will be imposed on farmers due to the Minister and his Department imposing compulsory EID on all sheep form Oct 1st 2018. Issues were raised such as, excessive costs, lack of consultation, timing, use of tags already purchased, the elimination of detailed movement documents through the use of CPR at factories & marts, the need to increase tolerances and reduce penalties, market access issues, the elimination of unfair scrapie and SRM charges by the factories.
