We wrote to members of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice, Equality and Defence urging them to move the Employment Equality (Abolition of Mandatory Retirement Age) Bill 2014 to Third Stage before the end of the Dáil session. If this was not possible we asked them to consider whether amendments could be proposed to the Equality (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill 2013 that would have the similar effect of abolishing mandatory retirement. Age Action members were encouraged to contact committee members on this matter.
