Specific Details The Irish Wheelchair Association representatives met with senior staff from the Department of Finance and Revenue regarding change of interpretation of the legislation with regards to the disabled drivers and passenger and organisational scheme. These change of interpretation resulted in a small number of disabled drivers not being able to purchase vehicles that would meet the requirements and also the exclusion of organisations who transport people with disabilities from the scheme.

Intended results Review of the scheme to ensure that disabled drivers and passengers that the scheme was designed to support would be to benefit from the scheme and also to reopen the scheme to voluntary organisations who transport people with disabilities in their vehicles.
