Intended results Increase home help hours to provide the service to an additional 22,300 older people, who will need support in 2018. Ensure older people are supported to reach and maintain their potential to live independent lives by providing reablement to 16,000 older people in 2018. Increase the income threshold for a medical card by €8 in line with increases in the State Pension. As a first step towards reinstating the over 70s medical card, expand the range of services provided by the GP visit card to include prescriptions to those over 70.
