Meeting All Oireachtas Members Invitation extended to attend NHI Oireachtas Open Day 2017, hosted 31st May, bring nursing home providers together with Oireachtas Members. Information provided regarding considerable cost discrepancy in what is payable for nursing home care between HSE nursing homes and private / voluntary providers and requirement for private and voluntary nursing homes to be placed upon a sustainable footing to enable them meet present and future healthcare needs. Call for funding model to reflect the reality of costs incurred; Fair Deal fees to be removed from arbitrary decision of being based upon historic prices and geographic location; Reasonable, rate-based fees based on ROI and capex; Annual indexation mechanism to increase rates based on legitimate cost increases; An agreed transparent process including terms of engagement between members and NTPF as negotiators; Publication by Government / Department of Health of review of the Fair Deal pricing mechanism
