Killybegs Fishermen's Organisation Ltd represents a significant sector of the Irish fishing industry and is a member of the European Fisheries Alliance. On behalf of both entities, Sean O'Donoghue wishes to advise the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar, TD, of their concerns for the future of the Irish fishing industry and its dependent coastal communities. This letter is to ask his support in upcoming negotiations between UK and the EU Commission to explicitly include fisheries in the negotiation mandate and ensure continued mutual access, existing TAC & Quota conditions and trading arrangements; there is also a requirement for a long-term framework for sustainable management of a shared resource.
