Retail Regulation
Intended results
That the Government would legislate on 'Below Cost Selling' of produce by retailers.
That the Government would legislate so that one-year retail tenders, as currently operated by many of Ireland's main retailers, for private label milk and other fresh products are seen as an unfair trading practice.
That the Government would strengthen the existing regulations so that primary producers get a fair share of the retail price
That the Government provides for an Independent Retail Ombudsman to oversee the enforcement of the new Grocery Regulations, similar to that operated in the UK.
That the Government would support the EU Commission Agricultural Markets Task Force report which contains important recommendations on increased price transparency and independent enforcement to strengthen farmers' position in the food chain.
That the Government supports the EU Commission proposals to increase transparency rules for multinationals on taxation, turnover and profit and urges support for passage through the European Council and the European Parliament
