Business priorities for the North-East in the National Planning Framework.
Intended results
To ensure understanding of TDs in the North-East region on the priorities of business for Ireland's development both economically and socially, particularly in the regions.
To ensure understanding of TDs in the North-East region of the potential ambitious investment policies and infrastructure projects that should be pursued in this era of low borrowing costs.
To impress upon Government the infrastructure priorities for the North-East region including: the N2/A5 Dublin-Monaghan-Derry road; the North-South electricity transmission system upgrade; Access to high-speed broadband (minimum 33MBs); infrastructure to ensure freeflow traffic at the border.
To ensure understanding by Government of the skills requirements of the North-East region, including: resolution of the borrowing framework and resolution of Higher Education funding; a range of in-house workplace training programmes for industry in the border region to withstand the impact of Brexit; a Regional Skills Gorum to foster better engagement between education providers, employers and other regional stakeholders; and the development of cross-disciplinary courses on ICT.
