Specific Details Ireland’s support for renewal of the mandate of the UN Working Group on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas (UNDROP), ahead of the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council. The correspondence highlighted violations of the rights of Palestinian farmers and rural communities, and the importance of protecting land rights and food producers.

Intended results To secure Irish Government support for renewing the UNDROP Working Group’s mandate, including through cooperation with Spain. To encourage Ireland to make human rights and land justice in rural areas a foreign policy priority, including protecting Palestinian food producers, and to support the promotion and implementation of UNDROP at national, regional, and international levels.
