Specific Details NHI engaged TD's in relation to the legislative amendment to the 50:50 Employment Permits rule. NHI were disappointed that the legislative amendment was not passed before the Dáil adjourned for Summer Recess, we were reassured by their express commitment that the draft heads for inclusion in a Bill to give effect to the 50:50 changes have commenced, and are currently undergoing legal scrutiny, with the aim of securing Oireachtas scheduling as early as possible in the Autumn.

Intended results NHI highlighted to them all that it is essential the legislative amendment to the 50:50 Employment Permits rule is progressed and passed as a priority to ensure service continuity across the nursing home sector given the significant workforce pressures already experienced across the sector due to the constraints imposed by the 50:50 rule.
