Specific Details Reform of Close Company Surcharge in Budget 2027

Intended results Budget 2027 should introduce a targeted exemption from the close company surcharge where retained after-tax profits are reinvested in qualifying Irish real estate and infrastructure. This would preserve the surcharge’s anti-avoidance purpose while encouraging indigenous companies to recycle capital into housing, regeneration, energy, healthcare, retrofitting and productive investment, rather than forcing distributions that weaken reinvestment capacity.
