Shared our press release issued this morning following the recent meeting of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Enterprise, Employment and Tourism regarding the forthcoming Short Term Tourism Lettings Bill (STTL).

Request to Appear at JOC Enterprise Tourism and Employment Committee, to discuss the Register for Short Term Tourism Letting Bill (STTL) which will seriously affects our sector. The Register for STR at EU level is due to be in place by May 2026 and covers all tourism beds from hostels to BNB, guesthouses, glamping, hotels, as well as self-catering. We have no clarity on whether we can continue to trade from May 2026.

Joint Oireachtas Committee on Enterprise, Employment and Tourism. On 18 February 2026, a meeting of the Joint Oireachtas Committee was held in Dáil Éireann to consider matters relating to the forthcoming Short-Term Tourism Lettings Bill (STTL). The session formed part of the Committee’s ongoing pre-legislative scrutiny and stakeholder engagement process in advance of the proposed regulatory framework for short-term letting in Ireland.

ISCF Executive Council member - As part of lobbying activity, meetings were held with Michael Leainde of Galway County Council regarding the Short-Term Rental legislative framework.
In addition, our local co-operative engaged with Minister for Tourism, Peter Burke, on behalf of the self-catering sector on the island, to raise sectoral concerns and perspectives.
A further meeting has been arranged with John Connolly TD for 9 May to discuss ongoing developments in relation to STR legislation.
