The Society supports a safer cycling environment, but has reservations for the economic and environmental impact of turning the Smithfield-Stoneybatter area into a 1.5km length of grid-locked traffic, under the City Council proposals. The Society is of the view that the progress and development of the Stoneybatter area in the past number of years could be threatened by the proposed route.
