Intended results
To highlight that persistent and severe flooding continues to have a devastating impact on farmland, homes, and rural communities, requiring immediate and long-term solutions.
That the major areas of concern are River and Drainage Maintenance and Flood Mitigation Infrastructure. The lack of regular maintenance on key rivers and drainage channels has significantly contributed to recurring flooding.
To highlight that Lough Funshinagh, in Co. Roscommon is another area of concern. The effects of flooding on farmers in this area cannot be overstated and needs to be addressed urgently.
