The Irish Computer Society (ICS), under the auspices of its social enterprise arm, ICS Foundation, has now been invited by the Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) and the European Commission to establish a National Coalition for Ireland as part of the new Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition initiative, to be launched by Commissioner Oettinger on the 1st of December 2016 in Brussels.
The aim of the ICS is to ensure that all citizens can benefit from the range of opportunities provided by technology, and that people working in the ICT industry have their status, influence and professionalism recognised and rewarded. Our role as coordinator of a national coalition of multi-stakeholder partners would support activities as part of the Action Plan for Jobs and the Digital Strategy for Schools 2015-2020 and by communicating these developments at European level, open Ireland to the exchange of best practice with existing national coalitions in other member countries.
